Flame trap

Sometimes I like to trap a flame by jumping over it and a rivet simultaneously. Here's a fun screen shot from after I trapped all five flames:

The Judy's play SXSW March 12, 2008. Guyana Punch, indeed.

See their site for official releases on CD.

Hey, that takes patience, and no regard for score. How about doing players a favor and 'milk the monkey' (the foot stop taunt) for the entire time? I'm curious as to how many points are possible in a round. My suggestion would be to high-tail it to the top and take out the top two girders first, then hop on DK's foot to your heart's content. :)

Uh...Wait, the flames go into the pit when you hop over them, blipping back and forth furiously...what emulator did you cap this from?

Any updates on the quest for dk greatness? Myself i usually breakdown around 70k and would love to hear any advice you may have on how to break 100k.

Sorry I've been so delinquent in answering comments.

Bail, I missed the Judy's show but bought a bunch of merch from the web site, replacing my bootleg cd with real ones. Thanks for the heads-up.

Dan, the foot stomp taunt stops being useful after the first few levels because the timer ticks down faster than you can score points. It's the same reason you can't just sit and jump barrels on the ramps.

See my spreadsheet in an earlier post to see the maximum number of points I've been able to achieve on any given level.

This capture is from mame, and the flames were blipping furiously when I made it. Of course the capture is single-frame, so all the motion is frozen.

Han, thanks for asking. I just today broke 290k. I should have broken 300k for the first time, but (as so often happens) made a careless error.

Do you get stuck on the third elevators? Have you seen King of Kong and learned Steve's technique for knowing which springs to run on? You run left to the safety spot on a spring that bounces just to the left of Kong's right foot (which is on your left). You run right and climb the ladder on a spring with a very high bounce that lands way over between his feet. I recommend using an emulator and saving your game when you reach that level so you can practice it over and over again. I used to die there regularly, now I almost always die on the ramps (due to wild barrels) or conveyors (due to stubborn flames).
